AT&T Williams F1. Hockenheim Test Day 1.

8 Julio 2008

The AT&T Williams team joined the rest of the grid today for the start of a three day test at Hockenheim. Ahead of the Grand Prix there next weekend, Nico Rosberg opened the team’s schedule of set-up work and will continue in the cockpit tomorrow.

Despite some prolonged showers, Nico lapped the 4.574km track 87 times and set the third fastest time of the day with a 1:16.099.

Dickie Stanford, Test Team Manager:

Today Nico joined us for day one at Hockenheim during which we concentrated on set-up work in preparation for the race here next weekend. The rain interrupted our progress a few times today, but we still managed to record 87 laps in the dry. Tomorrow, we will finish our programme with Nico before Kazuki arrives for day three on Thursday.”

With Silverstone representing the halfway point in the 2008 World Championship, Panasonic Toyota Racing now prepares for one of its home events, the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim on 20 July. On the first of a three-day test at the track, third driver Kamui Kobayashi was behind the wheel of the TF108 and enjoyed gaining more experience despite suffering some rain interruptions in the morning. Timo Glock is scheduled to take over driving duties tomorrow, in preparation for his home Grand Prix, with Jarno Trulli concluding the test on Thursday.

Position: 6th

It is nice to drive the Formula 1 car at a circuit I know reasonably well. I had a fourth place here in the F3 Euroseries and the test will also be good preparation for my GP2 race next week. We had quite a varied programme today and I did some brake comparisons as well as concentrating on collecting tyre and set-up data.”

Gerd Pfeiffer, Test Team Manager

The main aim of the day was data collection. We tried different suspension set-ups and carried out some brake comparisons. We also conducted some engine work and got positive results with everything we did – despite the weather”
